Why do people think continuity is needed in college football?

It simply isn't. Everything tells you exactly the opposite. 11 of the current top 25 coaches have been at their job 3 years or less. Another 3 have been there 4 years or less. Here's the list of current top 25 coaches who have been at their schools more than 4 years:

Saban
Meyer
Dabo
Stoops
Gundy
Jimbo
Holgorson
Shaw
Malzahn
Ken Niamatololo (sp?)
Kirk Ferentz

Of that list, 8 guys won a conference or national title in their first 3 years. The only ones that didn't are Gundy, Niamatololo (wasn't in a conference), Ferentz (won a co-title in year 4).

You hire until you get a good coach. Waiting around doesn't pay dividends.
