He's a quitter.
He's not liked by his teammates.
He's too soft.
He's this...He's that...

The critics can complain but I support Jalen's choice for a not so obvious reason.

We all know Jalen made a lifelong commitment to be a running back as a child in High School. He was arguably the best player in the state when he chose to come to UT. It's common knowledge he wants to play in the NFL.

On a tangential note:
Nobody faults a kid who wants to change his major. That change of major may necessitate his transfer from school. It happens. We adults understand as the young college student is experiencing new things his interests evolve and his abilities are amplified and refined. the child may move along to reach his potential. It's just the same in football.

A kid comes in as a star, and the coaches see an higher potential in one area of the team. Maybe he stays there, maybe he is moved. In a perfect world, the coach would put the best interests of the child first, but we all know better. this is business.put the kid where he helps his team. forget his NFL potential. (Think Tim Tebow, more potential as a tight end than a QB)

Jalen is too big to have a monster career as a NFL runningback. He has been told so by NFL experts. That is where , IMO, where the problem comes in.

He wants to change his career major from "Professional Football player with an emphasis in Runningback" to a new major, "Professional Football Player, with an emphasis in H-Back, tight end".

His, so to speak, Department head, Butch Jones, won't let him pursue his own career development opportunity. Jones wants to keep him from pursuing his best professional opportunities (as Jalen perceives them), and conform to what Butch Jones wants. Right now, Jalen is the third string Running back due to how his is misused. Jones is content to keep him there. Jalen wants to take a career track that will give him a longer career in the NFL.

Jalen is entitled to leave, to develop his receiving his skills in a way that maximizes his career opportunities: and that's not at running back. To Jalen this is potentially a tens of millions of dollars decision. We should support him.

Good luck Jalen. Thank you for bustin it for the vols

Best wishes Jalen. I'm proud of his efforts for the vols.
