I will get blasted for this but consider this
1. Who would they hire ?
2. Job security could definitely help recruiting for this upcoming class and possibly help us with some big name out of state recruits, and somewhat quiet down the negative recruiting that Butch isn't going to be here.
3. No way we go worse than 7-4, 8-3 this upcoming season with that being said a 7-4,8-3 season with a chance to have a great class coming in would be acceptable.
4. I know those like me who remember the 90s and early 2000s have a hard time accepting 8-3 but considering where this program was at when He took over he has done a nice job of stabilizing the program. AGAIN has he shown that he can win more than 8 -9 games? No but who would we get that has?
5. Before the negavols bash me I am not saying 8-3 is acceptable every year but 8-9 wins should get you a chance to play in Atlanta. I think once we get to Atlanta our recruiting would even take another jump and then our expectations raise.
6. Yeah he has his faults but like everyone you continue to improve with experience, I think he finally has an elite SEC coaching staff, he did what it took to make those changes for the betterment of the program.
7. The worse thing possible is to win 7 or 8 games this season and the negatively surround the program and effect recruiting.
8. I know the East is bad and there are some Kirby Smart lovers on here, but other than Saban and (maybe a big maybe Mullin -Muchamp)what coach in the SEC would you trade for Butch. So if those programs can't hire any better than they have what makes our fan base think they will? LSU had to hire Orgeron for crying out loud. Elite coaches aren't lining up to take a job in this conference partly because it is tough and fan bases want you fired for winning 8-9 games a year.
9. Do we as a fan base deserve better than what he has produced so far? Yes, but are we sure that someone else can give us better? I am not sure I can answer that, I do know negative recruiting and damaging the possibility of this next class, and hiring another coach who wouldn't be a slam dunk to make us better either.
10. With an extension with a LARGE buyout, could help stabilize the future, plus if he does tank in the next 3 years and goes 6-6 there is enough money to buy him out.
I personally don't see with our Roster us going 6-6 or worse than 7 wins . With 8 -10 wins being possible over the next couple years.
11. Clemson gave Dabo time and when he got Deshawn Watson (difference maker) their program- recruiting went to another level. Butch should get his time to get us back where we deserve and where we expect to be and that is competing for Atlanta and to make college football playoff, he has already done that because we were competing for it last year until the debacle at South Carolina and Nashville. And have a really good shot to get to Atlanta this year.
Anyways no I am not Butch's agent nor am I am a huge Butch fan.
