Coaching friend of mine recently went to the Georgia clinic. Here’s some thoughts from him, starting with Mays:
1. Mays really struggled. Was very overmatched at tackle. Said it looks like if he ever wants to see the field it will have to be inside.
2. Said there is no QB competition. Fromm head and shoulders better than Fields. Wasn’t very impressed with Fields.
3. Also thought there’s going to be a huge drop off with RB’s, unless freshman are studs.
4. Before getting excited about all those negatives, he said their defense was big, fast, and good. He’s been to many Bama clinics, and said there’s no doubt Kirby is turning them into Bama East.
