For all of you (probably fewer than the vocal minority on the board make a appear) who think we deserve better, who are 5 star coaches you believe should be heading this program? If I remember correctly, no one was lining up to take this job. After Fulmer, we hired an NFL reject who bolted for the West Coast first chance he got, then we hired...well you know. No one else really wanted it. Butch was interviewing for Purdue and Colorado, and the Tennessee job opened up when Charlie Strong decided to back out. For whatever reason, the Tennessee job became unattractive. Butch took it and almost immediately turned around the culture, and I don't care if he did it cliches, undeserved enthusiasm, or smoke and mirrors. It wasn't too long ago I was sitting at a bar and watching us lose to Kentucky, who started their wide receiver at QB. I don't know if Butch is the long term answer or if he will ever win the SEC, much less an National Championship. But he damn sure deserves a little more benefit than some around here are giving him. The talent level and program moral were sinking when UT fired Phil. Dooley damn near killed it off completely. No one his happy about losing to SC, but I'm not ready to call it day and start over. So can we just pump the brakes on the end of UT football. BTW, for those who think Butch is too intense on the sideline, you are probably the same ass hats who bitched at Phil for his nonplus...clap his hand..."work like heck" demeanor.
