By the time I finished high school, I was push mowing 14 lawns a week and delivering the morning paper. I worked at a mental hospital (anyone who says it's insulting to say that mental hospitals are scary has never spent time in one) all through college and then have worked at a variety of things since graduating, finally becoming a bank consultant 15 years ago working for a couple of different companies. Mostly I concentrated on cybersecurity and disaster planning (I can't tell you how many times I worked with banks to create plans for dealing with pandemics prior to 2020). But I've put endless hours into my jobs through the years. Sixty hour weeks are nothing for me. I've been on one vacation in the last 5 years.
I'm 52 years old, and have been going non-stop for 40 years, and today at 10:00 am, it ended.
I'm retired.
I started to say my allergies were bothering me, but screw that. I've flat out broken down. I'm so happy.
