Politico founder Robert Allbritton confirmed his interest in buying the Washington Nationals after the Lerner family said it would explore putting the MLB franchise up for sale. Allbritton said his late father, Joe, a banker and media mogul, served as the banker for the Houston Astros' owner during the 1970s and was forced to step in and run the franchise following financial troubles. (Washingtonian) Villanova men's basketball coach Jay Wright, who compiled a .695 winning percentage in his coaching tenure and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last year, is retiring and will be replaced by current Fordham coach and longtime Wright assistant Kyle Neptune. Wright, 60, first became a head coach at Hofstra in 1994 before moving to Villanova, where he appeared in four Final Fours and won two national championships over 21 seasons. (The New York Times) Colorado Rockies outfielder and four-time All Star Charlie Blackmon signed a partnership with the online sportsbook MaximBet, becoming the first active MLB player to endorse a sports betting brand. Though Blackmon cannot promote betting on baseball according to league policy, he will appear in marketing campaigns, promotions, social media content and fan events for MaximBet, which currently operates only in Colorado. (ESPN) Pat McAfee and Amazon Inc. have reportedly held talks for the sports media personality and former NFL punter to contribute to the company's 'Thursday Night Football' coverage beginning in the fall. A source said the two parties have also engaged in conversations about simulcasting McAfee's weekday talk show — currently airing on YouTube and SiriusXM — on Prime Video, though nothing has been finalized.
