Mike Matthews – a 2024 five-star ATH out of Georgia – will make his college commitment decision on Wednesday.

Ahead of Matthews' announcement, I set the stage for it and shared what landing the priority target would mean for Josh Heupel and the Vols.

Would love to get him. Commits tomorrow? Chance he actually comes to UT?

When you look at the 2023 schedule, obviously Georgia sticks out the most. If the offense doesn't have much drop off, I think the schedule works out favorably to where Tennessee still has its playoff and SEC hopes intact by that game.

Florida is on the road and always tough, but the Vols are the better team. Big games against South Carolina and Texas A&M are at home. Alabama is the only one that if I had to pick a loss in the first two months of the season, it would be that one.

But is there another one you think could be tougher than people think?

I'm going to go with Missouri. It's late November in Columbia. Likely going to be very cold. Tennessee has blown out the Tigers in each of the last two meetings, so they'll enter with a chip on their shoulder. The game is a week before Georgia, so you can't be caught looking ahead and I actually like what Missouri returns IF it's QB situation is fixed.

We have a top Recuiting class. Total team ranking is in top 20 but due to low number of recruits we are only no 16. Only two teams have a higher avg rank per recruit and that is GA and Ohio St. They are slightly higher but ranked 1&2 based on number of recruits.
