There Is A reason Why Tennessee Sports Talk Radio Is Dying

There is a reason why sports talk radio is dying in Nashville and Knoxville.

The program directors for a once major sports talk radio station and a top Nashville sports talk radio station have made recent hires that are following the same formula that has been failing.

104.5 zone in Nashville Has been struggling in all of its slots because the program Director continues to hire unproven local TV personalities to fill their spots. To boot they hire females for those spots. This is not a hit on The popular political correctness initiative practiced in the media.

104.5 the zone is 11th in the Nashville marketplace. that is not good for a station that once dominated that marketplace. They think that hiring local talent and local TV personalities to go on the year is going to make them successful. I know for a fact that there are numerous national radio personalities that they would not even consider for the job. What makes them think that hiring a local female TV personalities going to make them successful in the morning? Hiring a local female TV personality and putting her in the afternoon slot has failed miserably so what makes them think that this is gonna be any different?

The sports animal Knoxville is in last place in a very thin market of radio stations. they recently made a local hire without even talking to anybody anywhere else. just idiots in the program Director seat and all the stations.

The program directors seem to think that you can only fill your slots with people who live in their market. I know some radio personalities who have been Tennessee volunteer fans for years and decades who do not get a shot because they don’t live in Nashville are don’t live in Knoxville and are not buddies with the program Directors.

there are reasons why the sports talk radio stations are dragging the bottom of the ocean and that is because their program directors are not doing their jobs.

I know the radio personalities that I’m talking about would bring extremely interesting perspectives to the local sport scenes in the national sport scenes. Tennesseans don’t wanna hear shock jock radio that you get in Philadelphia and what we have been getting in Nashville. They don’t wanna hear the same boring air personalities in any of our marketplaces.

I used to listen to sports talk radio every day into work and back home from work and for the past two years I’ve been listening to nothing but music and I know that there are many more people who are doing the same thing that I’m doing because the radio station program directors are not doing their homework nor doing their jobs well.

College GameDay Twitter

Interesting to note: College GameDay deleted its tweet announcing it would air in Knoxville for Vols-Alabama on Saturday.

We were also told today that information on where GameDay would set up on campus would be released this afternoon but that information was never put out.

Could be nothing, but interesting nonetheless. I find it hard to believe they would pull out of going to a location after announcing it. Not a lot of games the caliber of Tennessee-Alabama on the docket this week.

Football Alabama coach Nick Saban previews matchup with Tennessee

Alabama coach Nick Saban met with the media Monday to preview Saturday's game against Tennessee. The Crimson Tide head into the weekend ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25 poll after narrowly beating Texas A&M.

Here are some key notes and quotes from Saban's press conference:

– Saban on the matchup: "We're going to play a really good Tennessee team. This game means a lot to a lot of people in Alabama. It's kind of a rivalry game, and it's always been an important game for us. Tennessee's got an outstanding team – they're undefeated. Josh (Heupel) has done a really, really good job there."

– Saban feels that Tennessee has "one of the most explosive offenses – if not, the most explosive offense – in the country." He mentioned that the Vols have some playmakers at the wide receiver position and two "really good" running backs.

– Saban on Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker: "Hooker has really done a nice job of executing their offense. He's one of the leading pass efficiency guys in the country. He has the ability to extend plays with his feet. He's a very good athlete all the way around. He's had an outstanding year."

– Saban says that the Vols' defense is good at creating negative plays and makes it difficult for opponents to score. "17 points a game is really good and one of the top in the SEC," he said.

– Saban said that quarterback Bryce Young – who missed the Texas A&M game – will be reevaluated on Monday and the Tide is hopeful to have him available on Saturday at Tennessee.

– Saban on Tennessee receiver Jalin Hyatt: "He's an outstanding player. He's got really good speed. Their offense spreads everyone out. He, in particular, has made a lot of big plays." He noted that the Tide's defense will have their hands full trying to contain the Vols' receiving core.

– Saban: "This is a really, really good team – a real challenge for us."
