As usual, feel free to agree, or disagree as you see fit. No skin of my back and I just like to talk about football.

Before I start, let me say, that although our defense played poorly, in my opinion, there is no defensive line problems. They are REALLY good. I'm not going to go into why I think that, but you'll see starting Saturday that this d line will dominate some teams, some of the bigs in the sec gonna have fits with them.

Also, somebody wanted to know what a 1 tech or a 3 tech was. If any of this technical jargon is foreign or you'd like to know, just tag me and ask and I'll answer. Also, some people use different terminology than I use, so if I use something you think is different please just again, tag me and ask.

This second half has been fun to break down and I am so much more excited about just how damn good this team can be. They have the opportunity to beat people like rented mules and there is talent all over the dang field. So, don't let all the nancies on her scare ya. This is a champ level football program RIGHT NOW, not next year. Yes, some breaks are needed, and better decisions will need to be made, but holy cow what I'd give to have a team this loaded!!

Now, on with the booom!

I pick up with the second drive of the second half

At the 3:40 mark after they missed the field goal, we come out in 11 personnel, and we go 2x1 at the receiver. Meaning two receivers to one side and 1 receiver to the other, which is usually to the tight end side. Then, we motion the receiver in to a "snug" meaning he motions to the tight end, and typically when we do this, it's because we are sending the tight end on a seam or flat route, and the back is going to stay in and block, and the receiver that motioned across will typically at the snap, turn and cross the entire line, either on top or underneath, and in this case it's underneath. So, JP5 drags underneath the line to be an "outlet" or safety valve for QD. I love how we roll QD right out there with him and get him outside of any possible pressure. They're Sam tries to run with JP5 but can't and QD smartly takes that easy little throw for the 7 yard gain.

Good play over all.

The next play, QD pulls it and gets about 6 and if he was a runner, he'd have probably taken it to the house. The big thing at this point is, and during the game you could tell, just those two successful plays were starting to cause this o to get a rhythm. That's a nice feeling.

Something I want to throw in right here. I didn't realize how big the one illegal block was in this game. It took tech out of their rhythm and out of fg range. This is why I thought it foolish not to accept the penalty. I know a lot disagree, but I'm certain the offense has to stay on schedule to stay sharp, and penalties knock them off. Anyway, just wanted to point out, just how big that penalty was. We probably lose if not for that penalty.

Although not successful because QD and BJ7 weren't on the same page, I love the next look we give them where we go 01 personnel, no tight end, and one back, and give them trips, or 3 receivers to the left and 1 to the right. The point of that is to try to pull the safety to the 3 receiver side so as to get a 1on1 with the single receiver. This is a GREAT strategy, and one in which I called in the game. We had Quez 1on1 and I said look out, he's by himself, and it was a touchdown. He's a stud.

Couple of other things I've noticed here. Tech is a VERY good tackling team. Especially in the secondary.

Later on we go to the same formation as the last one which is trips to the left and single receiver right. Get the one on one we want, but we shock them. They are in nickel and show cover 3 and the 1 high safety is moving to the one on one side at the snap, but we fool them and roll Qd away from the single receiver side, and the outside receiver had motioned into almost a "bunch" formation. This is the part I freakin love we have JP5 as the outside man, LW8 in the slot, and EW82 as the inside(snug) receiver.

At the snap, JP5 comes off and at 3 yards runs an arrow or a hook route, and what it does is becomes a "rub" for Ethan. Meanwhile Latrell comes off and runs a 8 yard curl and sits down. The rub, beautifully knocks the man covering Ethan off and dormady sees it, gets the ball to wolf for a big gain. Just a great play design and great routes by each receiver. This is good stuff.
We got a good one at coordinator!

Something else I need to mention. George got some burn, and our receivers block REALLY well. Also, the false start on jack should have been called on Trey. This is the play where jack moved to tackle.

I didn't realize that's where he was when quez makes a fantastic catch on a fantastic throw for the touchdown. Jack is a helluva player on his own right.

It was at this point that the Tennessee offense began to assert its will on the GT defense. People have constantly talked at how GT did as they please, it's nice to know that the TN offense was able to impose their will just as much.

After watching the Gualden play where we all thought he was held, I do not think he was held. I think that was a GREAT block.

The pass pro from the o line was nothing but impressive from half time on. Qd never had pressure. Somebody said we couldn't run a screen, I have to admit we ran GREAT screens. At GREAT times.

Qd left TB10 out to dry and he got hurt because of the bad throw. Still shoulda been caught. Although 1 isn't necessarily a burner, he's very fast, and smooooooth. Dang, he's smooth. I have honestly thought he is the best receiver on this team and told some guys on this site I thought he'd be the breakout player because of how well he runs routes. Glad for the kid!

Right now I want to say, what in the actual hell is wrong with Paul Johnson? Why would he throw the ball at the 9:05 mark during the 4th quarter? Especially with the back up Qb in for his second play all night? Just stupid and if we were doing to them what he was doing to us and butch made that call, somebody from here would have literally ran onto the field and punched him. Just an incredibly terrible play call.

Our next offensive series is to me the worst series we had all night and I betcha LS thinks the exact same thing. I guarantee he wishes he'd have come out and run the ball instead of 3 straight passes that were incomplete and took less than 2 minutes off the clock. The blessing here is the fantastic play by Rahsaan and absolutely the effort play that butch talks about all the time. Gosh just a great play by him. Big time players make big time plays in big time spots.

The last drive of regulation for us is truly a great drive and something I think hasn't gotten enough play. How big it was from a QD stand point but the entire offense and offensive coaching staff as a whole. It's started at 4:50 left in the quarter and the first play was inside zone and a BIG push up front for 6 yards. 2nd and 4 from the 11. Next play is a screen that if JK4 hadn't been held, probably would have been a home run. He had a convoy of blockers in front of him. So, 1st and 10 from the 23. Inside zone for 4 so, second and 6 from the 27. Dormady could have pulled that one and gotten 15-20. Great play on 2nd with the same route to Ethan and for no gain. So on 3rd and 6 this, to me may be the call of the game. We don't pick up this first, we know butch wouldn't go for it on4th and it's likely our defense can't stop them, but L Scott comes up with this gem.

Trips left, out of 01 personnel, which gets quez one on one with the corner on the right, and the trips makes one safety walk all the way over to the left hash, and the other safety is playing deep quarter. and this is big, the Sam backer has to walk out of the box and this essentially leaves JK4 in a one on one with their Mike which is wholly unfair for them. Qd does a great job recognizing this and as soon as he gets the ball he goes to JK for a gain of 6. The significance of how quickly he gets it to JK is big because the corner doesn't have time to both hand quesz off and get up to cover JK. Easy pitch and catch for the big orange first down!

The next play to callaway, just a GREAT catch. The offensive line just begins to blow holes open at this point. Huge huge holes. It bears mentioning that JK4 is an animal. Lol maybe the best back on this team last year, and yes, I know about Kamara.. of course two plays later,JK4 takes it home. Here is where I would have gambled. I absolutely would have gone for 2 simply because my gut told me there was NO way we could stop them, and at that point I thought there was NO way they could stop us RIGHT then.

Turns out, butch made a good call not going for it. That's why he gets paid 4+million per year.

Over all this offensive line has truly gotten so much better it's amazing. It's also amazing that Qd sees things that were never seen last year, like the last jk catch I describes. This makes HUGE differences in small things.

22 is lost on defense and that is scary. Just to add.

Anyway, great win and doesn't matter how. Obviously Indiana state isn't going to be a challenge but a great time to get nothing but youngsters snaps. That HAS TO HAPPEN.

This team will DESTROY Florida btw..

As always shoot the questions at me.
