In a discussion about drafting the mighty Scherff:
Just re-watched Brandon Scherff vs. Tenn

in the Gator Bowl.
Maybe this was his worst game ever, but he looked average at best, and terrible on many plays.
#9, Derek Barnett, UT's Freshman DE went around, through, and over Scherff for most of the 1st half, until he went out with an injury.
I have only seen Scherff in a couple of games, but from what I have seen, NO THANK YOU at #9.
Has anyone paid close attention to Scherff's career?

I've watched the same game a couple times. Scherff did not have a bad game at all. He did have 2 plays where he clearly got beat, and another 4 plays where he should have done a better job. He was slow to mentally react on a few of those, and the others he simply didn't get position and was beat by his man.
On any OL grading scale, he would have been above 80%...which isn't a good number but far from being terrible.
Keep in mind that freshman is probably one of the top 5 DL in the entire country, regardless of class.
