The fight to the finish is clearly in full swing. The big news of the day was the commitment of Josh Palmer. The wide receiver from south Florida made the pledge on his twitter and now the crunching of numbers will get really interesting. Larry Scott was in South Florida and saw Kivon Bennett and Tim Jordan. Scott also dished out some offers to 2018 prospect and LSU commitment Nadab Joseph and defensive lineman Kayode Oladele. He will head north and meet Robert Gillespie and Butch Jones tomorrow to meet with Devan Barrett. The commitment of Tim Jordan isn't slowing things down on the running back front. This close to the finish line, they are going to take their swings and see if they can make any contact.
Don Mahoney was in Maryland where he offered 2018 lineman Rasheed Walker. Tomorrow, Mahoney will head to Huntington, West Virginia where the Vols have offers to Sophomores Darnell Wright and Doug Nester.
Mike Canales was in Louisiana seeing quarterbacks for the 2018 class.
Then there is the attention garnered by some really good defensive lineman. Elijah Conliffe is set to go to Louisville this weekend, but we believe this is a Tennessee and Florida battle barring Alabama missing and throwing their hat back in the ring.
Now who would the Tide miss on? Well Nick Saban came and went from his school and in-home visits with LaBryan Ray and we are told Tennessee is very much in play here. Ray is still planning on taking the trip to Florida this weekend, but we are told that the dad isn't going on this trip. Ray has made it clear to people around him and even told us when we interviewed him that a "home feel" is important in his decision. Has he found it yet? Can Tennessee legitimately be in this thing deeper than people realize? Time will tell as the Vols staff rolls in four deep on Thursday night.
