Debated posting this but why not as we wait on MNF to start. FYI Can't vouch for any of this so anti-Grudenites flame away. Just passing along...this is from the reddit board and a Reddit user called tp43 - guy seems to be a Pittsburgh fan (they checked out his past 5yrs of posts so no reason to troll TN) - here is Reddit posts from the guy:
I have a family friend that works for the Gruden camp. He speaks with Jon everyday and has been speaking with the Tenn camp as well.
As most of you know, Tennessee and Gruden were very close to a deal around Thanksgiving, but Gruden could not stand Currie and this caused the whole thing to fall through.
Fast Forward to now: I just spoke with my source who said now that Currie is gone Tennessee has reached back out to Gruden. He is the #1 choice for the job and Les Miles is #2. He said that Tenn informally offered a contract to Miles (Basically like Schaino's contract, not good until Tennessee actually signs it). If Gruden falls through, Tennessee will sign on the dotted line and secure Miles.
Edit: I'll try to answer any questions you guys have. I should disclose that I'm not a Tennessee fan or even a CFB fan. I can try to provide any proof short of my sources actual name. He is typically the 3rd person on Grudens side of the table in any negotiations (Gruden, His Agent, My Source).
Edit 2: I am going to keep providing random details I know of. Tennessee fans might find them useful even if they don't directly involve Gruden. Saturday night my source had dinner in Tampa with Jimmy and Bill Haslam, the topic of discussion was mostly Tennessee AD politics. Basically Jimmy Haslam was saying he and Fulmer are not the best of friends and that he has been cut out of the coaching search for the most part (after leading it before). Haslam ultimately wants my source to do work with him for the Browns organization next year. Haslam believed Saturday night that Les Miles was still the front runner for the job. I talk to my source Sunday morning and he's like "yea Jon has moved on and just wants to focus on the Rowdies deal" (Tampa soccer team he has partial ownership in). I talk to my source today and hes like: "were back on, I just talked to the associate AD (He knows this person personally and used their real name) and they want Jon. Jon #1 choice... They have Miles if they want."
Edit 3: I will work on getting a picture of my source with Gruden and send it to a mod. This person is the childhood best friend of my father and lives in Tampa, I live in NC and haven't seen him in 15-20 years. So a picture with me and him is out of the question, and if I get a picture of he and Gruden together that could just be any picture off google right? Leaving work will be back in 30.
Edit 4: Guys I am working on getting verification to u/weazelbear so standby. If I had to guess you guys have a 50-50 shot to land Gruden (the other 50 being Miles).
My source says Gruden wants the job, but you also need to understand my source has MASSIVE financial incentives to get a deal done, while Gruden really doesn't need this.
Sunday he was telling me Gruden was ready to move on and today hes telling me Gruden still wants the job.
I'm working on verification with your mods so hang in there buddy. I will say that during the original meeting between Currie/Haslam they were very close on $$$. The deal fell apart because of Currie being a prick and not budging 1 inch on decision making
