He doesn’t seem to be pimping his name out like a lot of coaches. No one honestly buys that LSU is pursuing Mark Stoops but he’s using that job opening to get more money despite performance based bonuses and raises. UK underwhelmed from what UK fans and media pundits predicted. Meanwhile Heupel overachieved in an unenviable situation for coaching and recruiting and he’s showing zero interest in going anywhere else. Seems like a real dude. The biggest issue with former coaches in this job was ego and it seems like Heupel doesn’t have that and I think it’s what a job like this has needed. Someone who believes he’s lucky to be at UT. Not that UT is lucky to have him.
