I am not really that down for our prospects the rest of the year. That doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty of shortcomings and some issues to overcome. But our OL will be healthier than it has been all year and has played its best 2 games the last 2 weeks. Bama is no defensive juggernaut but a banged up OL playing pretty well against them is significant. Say what you want but it as bad a QB performance as you will ever from JG to keep us from handily beating Kentucky. But just look at the quality of completion from here on in. Arkansas has overachieved significantly from their expected doormat status but that doesn’t make them a good team. Auburn is awful and sans 2 inexcusable ref mistakes would be 1-4. Vandy is at the bottom. A&M has been good and bad but except for the really nice showing against FLA has been mostly bad. FLA has already given up over 500 yards twice to teams that haven’t been that good and we play them last in Knoxville.
Obviously we have little room for error against most of our remaining schedule and could have multiple losses. But the by is coming at a really good time and there are nothing but opportunities left on our schedule. If we clean some things up and play as well as we played our first 2 1/2 games and arguably our first 3 games sans 2 RB whiffs in routine pass protection and OL pass protection breakdowns we could have good shots at winning all those games but FLA. And under the circumstances if we play well against FLA we could even have a reasonable shot at them.
