This is where the difference in the game was. We couldn’t convert on 3rd down and we couldn’t get off the field defensively on 3rd down. I did some checking and think I am right but maybe not. Check out these stats:
Alabama Offensive 3rd downs for the game:
3rd Down Conversions: 15-20
Average down in distance on 3rd down: 3rd & 12
Yards on 3rd Down: 248 yds
Their total yards for the game was 574 yards and they gained 248 of them on 3rd downs alone. We have to be able to get off the field.
This is not a knock on Tim Banks or this defense because they played their butts off. However we just cannot get off the field on 3rd down and this is a good offense we played but the difference in the ball game.
