These are my 10 best "surprise" movies. They would probably not be the best all time (except for 6-10) but have a surprise ending that I didn't expect. These are movies I didn't expect to be enjoyable before I watched them. My best movies don't have a lot of action scenes to cover up the lack of a good story line.
1) The Prestige (2006)- Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman with a cameo from David Bowie as Nikola Tesla, the best inventor of all time. Story about two competing magicians that will guarantee to leave you thinking about it when it's over!
2) Big Fish (2003)- Albert Finney and Jessica Lange. This is a magical story that will really surprise you and leave you with a warm heart you didn't expect!
3) Going in Style (2017)- Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin. This movie has a familiar theme, but has a magical ending that will really surprise you!
4) Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)- Clint Eastwood. Simply the best all time Clint Eastwood movie. You can't leave it off any list of best movies. I've watched it dozens of times.
5) The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins. This is a classic story that I didn't know about before I watched it.
6),7),8),9), 10) - Ben-Hur, The Wizard of Oz, Who Shot Liberty Valance, It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story that you probably already knew about.
