Former college basketball player and middle school and high school coach here. Been dealing with the ineptitude of refs all my life, so I have this rant:
I understand missed calls. They are going to happen. Sometimes a charge is called a block. Sometimes a block is called a charge. Sometimes a pass interference is missed or called when it shouldn't be. It's bang-bang and sometimes they are missed. I get that. There is always the element of human error.
But what happened Saturday night was different. There was a fumble, a recovery, and returned for a touchdown. The call on the field was a touchdown. They determined the play was not reviewable..........and took the touchdown away. If a play is not reviewable, then the play on the field must stand.
So, if the non-reviewable play is changed in a ref huddle, that's not a missed call. We have now crossed over into cheating. We were cheated out of a touchdown. Not a missed call. Now it's cheating.
Am I wrong?
