and UGA's outlook in general, from their fans on the main board. interesting...
pollack4heisman - Bad matchup for UGA, imo. Alabama's defense struggled against the spread and UGA will likely be without 3 defensive linemen, which is a position that already lacks depth. Chubb is ahead of schedule, but there's no way he'll be at 100% to start the year.
Factor that in with the clusterfvck that UGA has at QB, and this one could easily be a loss for Georgia. I'm not really sure where this notion comes from that UGA fans think this year's team will be world beaters. Sure, there is excitement about the new head coach in Athens, but this is a rebuilding year and 99% of UGA fans know this. I have no idea what to think about this game.
CVB3 - I generally agree with this. There will be bumps in the transition and we have some clear weaknesses in the roster. I think it is a bit silly to get too detailed on which games we will win and which we will lose, particularly when all the normal factors that can change before a game are not yet known and we have so many questions marks that leave us unsure who will play, how good we will be, etc.
But looking at the team overall, we have new schemes on both sides of the ball, a huge question at QB, injuries to our best players at RB, depth issues on the DL, new starters at key LB positions, and a secondary that is still young. That is a lot of questions. I see this as a 3 or 4 loss team. It wouldn't surprise me if we win or lose to UNC. Same with UT, Ole Miss, Florida, & Auburn.
None of this diminishes that there is reason to be excited about the future. So far, Kirby has been impressive. The most important issue remains unsettled, putting a good team on the field and coaching them up, but with recruiting, media, setting the tone, getting fan involvement, etc., he has been very good so far. Hopefully he can get us competing for championships soon.
Just my take.
CVB3 - I have my doubts that Eason is the guy for UNC. He has a lot of talent, but us still,a true freshman. One of our mods is predicting Ramsey - that wouldn't surprise me. The last thing we want to do is put Eason in before he is ready and risk his confidence. Ramsey, for as much grief as he takes, was ok in limited action last year other than when he was thrown in down big to Bama in a monsoon and was told to chuck it downfield. Can't be surprised at a couple INTs in that situation. Wouldn't surprise me if it is any of the three (though it will disappoint and scare me if Lambert is the guy). I want Eason to be ready, but would also prefer to sacrifice a few games to get him ready to be what he can be. I am very interested to see who gets the nod and how it plays out, nothing rejuvenates like a coaching change.
