He was proven before he was hired here and never forgot how to coach. I think he made two mistakes that he has now cleared up. What he tried first small-ball wise probably worked on the west coast. The hiring of Larry Simcox, who I bet he wishes he would've hired day one, made our offense more compatible with what is found in the SEC minus a great deal of the long ball. He adjusted his recruiting strategy from recruiting too good which burned him because of the draft to recruiting talent that will be here to help on the mound and behind the plate.
