For Larry Scott's tenure as Pac-12 commissioner, the future is now (or pretty darn soon)

Campus official across the Pac-12 have begun discussing the future of commissioner Larry Scott and believe a decision on his contract could come by the end of this year, if not sooner, according to conference sources. Scott's deal expires in two years, but the window is somewhat condensed, sources said, by the timing of the Pac-12's media rights agreements.

The University of Houston athletic department announced Tuesday several cost-cutting measures for the 2021 fiscal year due to fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, including budget and staff reductions but no elimination of any sports programs. In a release, UH said the cuts are "designed to minimize the impact on the student-athlete experience and lessen the financial burden" caused by COVID-19.
The unforeseen may lead to a more commonly seen clause in coach contracts

As Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder ticked off the changes made to football coach Mike Gundy's contract Friday following a law firm's investigation into the treatment of players in the program, one amendment stuck out. "We put a Force Majeure in there, which we need to add in all of our coaching contracts," Holder said. "This will just be the first one."
