Our defense issues come down to three things.
1) Injuries - they are normal for all teams. Good teams are able to overcome injuries.
2) Failure to develop the younger players and failure to prepare them for the time that they may have to see the field.
3) Recruiting. It is obvious that Butch has failed in adequately filling needs at some key positions. The problem killing this defense is that Butch has not recruited enough defensive tackles. People lambasted me when I said last winter, that we did not have enough defensive tackles. I pointed out that you needed to be able to have 6 decent DTs and it would be great to have 8 DTs who could play. Instead everyone worried about having enough QBs, WRs and DEs in the recruiting classes.
