Talking with a couple UGA fans yesterday, and I noticed something that reminded me of Chaney's previous stint here at UT.

The Lambert/Eason situation is strikingly similar the the Simms/ Bray days here. Just like Simms, Lambert is very comfortable in the offense, understands how to read defenses, and can make checks at the line of scrimmage to get into the right play. Also, much like Simms, he is limited as a playmaker and holds onto the ball way too long. But the one game Lambert started, UGA had much more success running the football than they have had since.

Chaney is handling Eason much like he did Bray. When Eason has played, the run game has been pretty stagnant (until garbage time last Saturday). Chaney is just letting him chunk the ball all over the field, which of course is what Chaney wants to do anyway. But he's using bunch formations to cut down on how much of the field Eason needs to see, and not really bothering to help him progress (right now at least). Eason is either not able or Chaney isnt letting him make pre-snap adjustments to get them in the right plays for the defense.

Now I think Eason has a better head on his shoulders, so he has a chance to progress as he gets older, but for Saturday, I think Shoop will be able to confuse and frustrate the O, even though they may hit a couple downfield.Just thought it was interesting on similar the situations were.
