At the Nagurski Awards in Charlotte last night, had a chance to talk to Coach Cut, Dan Brooks, and Marion Hobby. Coach Cut did a nice job as the Keynote Speaker and CDB and CMH were there supporting Christian Wilkins who was up for the award that J. Allen of Bama ended up winning.
All were super nice guys and, when I brought up my UT connection, they all spoke very highly of their time there. Coach Brooks even said that sometimes you don’t get to always choose when you leave, mentioning how much he enjoyed living in the Maryville area.
Even though I'm not a Clemson fan, it's nice to see Coach Brooks and Coach Hobby enjoying success and doing a great job with the Clemson DL. They appear to be both recruiting very well and developing their talent.
I’ll always appreciate what each of them contributed to UT’s success during their time there. I realize that Coach Cut and Coach Brooks will likely finish out their careers where they are and, given how well Coach Hobby seems to be doing at Clemson with their D, it would sure be nice to get him back to Knoxville at some point.
