I still remember a season or so before he left to go to Ole Piss that the UT offense was struggling. Apparently he did not deal with the critical fan comments well. I saw comments about the way he responded or did not to fan comments when leaving the press box. I think his wife was somewhat vocal about the criticism Cutcliffe received for the offensive problems at that time. Too sensitive for a head coach. I understand when Cutcliffe was vetted for UT HC he insisted on bringing his staff and there were coaches on his staff that I was not and am not impressed with (e.g.Matt Roper). Now, when he came back to UT as OC after being fired at Ole Piss the offense improved, but not like UT became an offensive juggernaut or anything.

Now,I want to be clear. I am not drilling down on Cutcliffe or certainly do not mean to be. I believe Cutcliffe is a very solid coach. Obviously, he is an exceptional QB coach. And,he has done a great job at Puke, sorry, I meant Duke, notwithstanding how Duke is getting drilled right now by Wake Forest.

All I mean to be saying is that for everyone who thinks UT would be so much better if Cutcliffe were our OC or HC now, I would have to say, not necessarily so.
