On Friday, Pruitt hosted a team meeting via Zoom with his entire Vols football roster. The meeting was supposed to be spent outlining what players could expect upon their return to campus. The COVID-19 pandemic shut down all of sports, but beginning June 8 players are allowed to participate in voluntary in-person workouts.
But before they could talk protocol, testing, hygiene or anything regarding the resumption of activity, Pruitt wanted to address the incidents that cost three people their lives and the anger that resurfaced when the video of Floyd’s death went viral last week.
“I want to talk about it,” Pruitt said.
