I'm listening to the Erik Ainge Show podcast for today, and they are discussing Tyler Byrd. Some decently harsh criticism (not saying it's not warranted), but I'm wondering if his status as an ATH, coupled with plays he made as a Freshman and the corresponding lack of plays last year, has jaded people on a player that can still contribute? Or have our expectations been too big based on an all-star game performance and limited action, specifically UF 2016 and A&M 2016?
I don't have inside info, but questioning a player's "want to" without sharing the basis to seems to be too harsh a criticism on that front. Maybe he has had attitude difficulties, but those aren't readily apparent to fans like myself who follow this team religiously.
Just wondering if we're getting ahead of ourselves by counting him out because he didn't stay on defense, or whether the light could click on for him this year if he works at it.
Thoughts?
