Please send this out on all social media platforms that you use. Let’s put voltwitter to good use. This was sent by my daughter and her friends. She is a senior and soon to be Tennessee Vol. @abbywest03
As a member of the Class of 2021, I ask that you please reconsider your limitations on high school sporting events. There are many other athletes that are not getting to participate in their sports and are missing out on their seasons. We are very grateful that our basketball teams are allowed to play. However, we feel that you are discriminating against other student athletes, such as dancers and cheerleaders, by not allowing them to participate in their sports. It is extremely unfair that contact sports are allowed, but sports like cheer and dance (which can utilize social distancing and masks) are not. For some, like myself, this season is the end of their athletic career. For others, they could be missing out on potential college scholarship opportunities. Thank you for trying to keep others safe during these unprecedented times. I hope you will consider myself and the thousands of other athletes across the state that are currently not allowed to participate in the activities that we have dedicated hours of practice, money, and effort to our pending season.
