Take us inside the radio booth Saturday. You had the fumble recovery and then the Ga pass and then the hail marry? At the end we had a Priest periwet (?)and a high five and then a scream. Obviously a disbelief that TN can give up the TD when they did. Go back to the fumble asked would Jim Chaney throw it off his on goal line. All of us was surprised he would throw it there and even more surprise that he asked a TE to block Barnett. There was head scratching things. Went through some emotions that TN won it, then lost it then won it again. The thing you do as a broadcaster is that you call what you see. You try to call it till the clock hits zero zero zero. When GA scored that TD we didn’t disappear. Tim didn’t disappear and went into a shell. Sometimes that is hard to do. When you are Tim and is emotionally invested in the program as a former player as he is it is hard to do. The one advantage that we have and it is a bad thing to know is we have seen so many bizarre ending to games in our time together. The 3 of us have been together since 1999. We called the 13 man on the field at LSU, the Music City Bowl were TN won the game then lost the game. Last year 4th and 14 at FL and the Pig Howard fumble against GA. We have seen a whole lot of bizarre games which in some way helped us get through the bizarness of what was Saturday. I have never seen anything like that. I was the one in the most disbelief. I had my jaw on the floor.

I always think of the trip home? You won it, lost it, then won it? Obviously there was great jubilation after the catch. Then there was reality of what just happened? It was a numb feeling like I have never seen anything like that in my life. Not to say people were not happy. There was a guy sitting in front of us that was a GA fan a security had to ask him to leave. He never moved. He wasn’t throwing things or crying, he just sat there. Finally security asked him to leave the stadium. The other side of that you had jubilation from TN and you had fans going “what was that?” I never seen or felt anything like that in my life. It was almost like a numbing effect.

Butch’s decision to punt in the 4th qrt. made a hero out of Riley Lovingood? Willie Mays. I have never seen a deep snapper field a punt 39 yards down field. I asked him how did he pick up the ball? He said I was trying to read the returners eyes and about 8 to 10 yards before him I just looked up at the ball. I was just on the perfect line of the ball. It was a huge play. There was a good chance if the ball bounced TN would have downed it but you never know what kind a funky roll you get. Then you had Danny O’Brien with a loss of a few yards that made it 2nd and 7. If GA gets positive yards on first down I think they still run it. Those 2 plays before the Barnett fumble were 2 huge plays for TN.

What is going on with Jalen Hurd? Is he injured or in the dog house? I don’t think he is in the dog house. He was not benched. TN got the ball back after the Foreman INT needing 10 yrds. No offense to Kamara but you want the ball in Hurd’s hands there to break tackles. He did not play due to some injury. Is it a lower leg? Hamstring? I don’t know what the injury is. Butch says he will be fine. Interesting after he makes the TD catch in the 3rd qrt he does not come back into the game until the special teams play. It was kind of bizarre since he missed all those reps on offense. (Hubbs has exhausted the word bizarre..sums up this game). That as a head scratcher. I do believe he will be ready for Saturday. He has been nursing some bumps and bruises. He did take his self out of the Ohio game with some minor stuff but I do believe he will be ready for Saturday.

I have to admit Dobbs has been better than I thought especially the last few games? Rising to the occasion? The thing you like about Dobbs is that when TN needed a play he made a play. I’m not just talking about the Hail Mary play. The one thing he did a great job on the HM is that he didn’t throw it in the back of the end zone. He threw it to Jennings perfectly to make a play. What Dobbs did in the first half scrambling for 3rd and 13 to get in the end zone. Those types of plays are different for Dobbs than years past. We have seen him against South Carolina in years past make those plays. But to do it against Ga and FL shows a lot of growth. He is doing it throwing the ball not just with his legs. When TN has to have a play Dobbs seems to be the guy that rises to the occasion. Saturday against A and M he will have to make a ton of plays. This is a pretty good Tex AM team that is putting up a lot of points.

Can TN ‘s OL block A&M and can A&M’s OL block Barnett and company? A lot of marque matches at the DE spots. Garrett and Barnett has had a lot of attention since they have arrived in this conference because of their production. I don’t know if anyone saw Bruce Feldman’s tweet yesterday but Barnett’s sack total in SEC games are incredible. 21 sacks in 18 SEC games. That is a heck of a stat. his line in better competition is better than Garrett. Garrett has a few more sacks but Barnett has been better in SEC games. A&M has 9 different players who have sacks this year. Getting a production from a lot of different players. Don’t rule out the importance of blocking inside the interior. Their inside pressure can give a lot of problems in the run game and passing. TN needs to play well in guard, center, guard.

Do you think they will do anything with Garrett with sliding the line with Wolf helping out? Advantages of the sprint passing game? ( Frank rambling like a hippie on shrooms) When you put Dobbs on the sprint rollout you are trying to protect the OT. Kendrick is not a natural OT. Will slide a protect some. They will chip some with Wolf or Croom or a back. One advantage they have is that Jalen Hurd is a really good blitz pick up protector guy ( up yours Greg McElroy) . Hurd will be a factor on 3rd downs and blitz pickups. Another key is that TN has to win 1st and 2nd down. If they are in 3rd and 9 or 3rd and 8 they will have a hard time. In the Arkansas game they gave up just 2 sack but their QB was beat to a pulp. ARK had to throw it because they were behind and they got behind the chains. Dobbs moves better than Allen but you do not want him as a sitting duck in the pocket.

Texas A&M is the first opponent they have faced with a fire power? TN struggled last week against the run? TN LB’s struggled to get off blocks last week. If you have to commit everybody to stop the run and TN’s DB’s are on an island than A&M has no problem throwing it over their heads. This is a much diverse offense than TN has faced. Knight’s scrambling ability has changed A&M’s offense greatly. Multiple weapons on the outside. They can also line up and be physical. They have over 200 yrds rushing in every game this year. TN LB’s and front 7 will have to play really well. DL has got to come and play.

Status of JRM and Kirkland? I do not expect them to go. Alabama is more realistic for Kirkland.

Go Vols!!! Beat them Aggies!!!!!!!!
