Travis Haney's ESPN blog has Jalen Hurd as the #3 possible breakout player in college football for 2015.
3. Jalen Hurd, Tennessee RB[/B]
Hurd's 1,120 total yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman offered signs of what's to come for the No. 8 back in the 2014 recruiting class. He's still somewhat under the radar, at least nationally, because of the prodigious seasons that Georgia's Leonard Fournette just had. But expect Hurd to join that elite class of SEC backs in 2015.
Tennessee returned no offensive linemen in 2014, so more cohesion up front should benefit Hurd and the Volunteers' ability to run. (He averaged just 4.7 yards per carry as a freshman.) Josh Dobbs steadied the quarterback position as the year progressed, another bonus for the versatile Hurd.
The surprising departure of OC Mike Bajakian leaves a hole, but whoever comes in knows he has a foundational piece in Hurd. If the Vols do in fact resurface in the SEC East in the next couple of seasons, he will be a major reason.
