He is the coach I grew up watching roam the sidelines, he brought us the 1998 NC & 2 SEC titles. Gave us countless memories of Vol football for over a decade.
BUT how in the heck did we not win more than 1 NC in the mid-late 90’s!?!? Since there have been no live sports to watch I’ve been going back & watching games from that era & we were absolutely LOADED, LOADED with talent. The fact we only won ONE NC is a travesty IMO.
Can make a case that we should’ve/could’ve won in ‘95, ‘96, ‘97, ‘98, ‘99, & ‘01.
That’s 6 year stretch of being one of the top 1-4 teams in the nation. FSU won multiple titles, Nebraska won multiple titles.
