He takes a lot of guys that he probably wouldn't take otherwise just to fill up the class early and then when he feels good about higher ranked recruits they mutually part ways. I didn't mind it early on in his career here because he was new and probably didn't realize that any decent coach could recruit to Tennessee, and we had a lot of spots and a lot of needs.
I figured by year 4 he would learn which guys where sec level players and which ones he probably shouldn't string along. I guess he is just so insecure about doing his job recruiting wise as well that he takes what he can get early to make sure he can fill a class. Not sure I totally agree with it because of possible repercussions but whatever I guess.
