WAY too many people on this board worry about winning the press conference and not on the court. I heard one of the epople I think on ESPN talking about this regarding coaches that did not win any press conference when they were hired but they sure won on the playing field.
What impresses a player more than being a big name is a winning head coach regardless whether it is basketball or football. I don't think a lot of people got the party started when we hired CBJ but looking back on it now can ANY of you name me a sinlge HC that would have come to UT (So don't even be a dumbass and mention John Gruden) that looking back now you would have taken over CBJ? I can't. Pete CArroll was a former loser of a head coach in the NFL then he went to USC., Do yo think the people at Ohio State were excited when they hired the former Youngstown State HC Jim Tressel? No but they won a NC under him just as USC won one after PC became the HC.
I am just saying I would prefer to take CBJ's idea of finidng someone with the knowledge that would be a great fit and not someone who needs to make a big splash.
So what I am saying is that if we can't get the person we really want than lets consider someone like Philip Pearson from GA who will end up being a top level coach one day.
