This is the best college football coach not in the Power 5 and he will have a very good job at a big-time program within the next 4 years. The only question is whether or not he'll have to prove himself at somewhere like Kentucky or Purdue first. Most likely he will.

Some things about Fleck:

- Played 2 years in the NFL as a wide receiver. The day he was released, Mike Nolan offered him a job as assistant WR coach, saying "If that's something he wants to do, I think he'd be very good at it."

- Rather than taking the job, he tried to continue his playing career but failed his physical with the Bears.

- His first coaching job was as a GA with Jim Tressel at Ohio State.

- From there he went to Northern Illinois to coach WRs, then went to Rutgers to coach WR for Greg Schiano. He followed Schiano to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 to coach WRs.

- Western Michigan offered him their HC job on December 14, 2017

- Two months later, Fleck signed possibly the best recruiting class in WMU history, and the best in the MAC since 2000. According to Rivals, it was the highest ranked class among all mid-major programs.

- Since Fleck's arrival, WMU has had the highest ranked class in the MAC for 4 consecutive years.

- Western Michigan was 1-11 in his first season (2013) and they are currently ranked #20 in AP poll.

Do a little research on PJ Fleck and you'll see that he's a man who "gets it". He knows what it takes to win at the highest level of college football and he knows how to recruit. He also seems to be a decent person off the field.
