IMO we don’t “need” Pruitt to be THE guy. But at worse we need him to be

The guy that gets us to THE guy.

What’s killing this program more than anything IMO is the exhausting cycle of 3-4 years of a staff and then bringing the next guy in with nothing to work with.

Kiffin jumping ship after Fulmer’s gradual decline in recruiting caused Dooley to need 2 years to even compete. Dooley left the cupboard empty and Butch needed 2 years to compete. Once Dobbs/legacy class left, nothing was left and Pruitt needed 2 years to get some players in.

I think we gotta get to a point where we are handing the program off and at least giving the next guy a shot at getting to 7-5 or so in year 1.

As much as I don’t want to keep Pruitt around if we’re gonna keep losing bad, I’m not sure that’s possible by firing Pruitt until near the end or after 2021 anyways. Especially with this covid 1 year transfer rule in place this year.

The roster is definitely in a better situation now than in 2017....if the next guy who comes in is a great offensive mind, there’s a decent chance he won’t need 2 years to flip a roster with HB, Salter, Cody Brown, and all the young WRs we have watching us lose from the sidelines right now.
