Two hellacious back to back releases.
(Still not close to the five album string by the Stones... from Beggars to Exile. Sorry, that run was the sh**)
Looking back on it a little more, dude was a helluva songwriter, along with the addition of George Green.
Those are two really heavy angst, emotion-driven albums. You listen to Uh-Huh all the way thru - you feel like you need a smoke and drink, and like a 15 min break.
Crumblin Down progression, lyrics, and arrangement could have easily been a hot mess -- there is A LOT thrown in there... and they did a helluva job.
He and Don Gehman hitching up when they did was like peanut butter and jelly.
That song is like the "For What its Worth" (which is an absolutely amazing song that was written by an 18 year old kid (Stills) - and still breathtakingly stands today vs anything IMO) of the 80s.
Pink Houses imagery is just a smidge below "City of New Orleans" IMO, in terms of heft and weight and carry.
Rumbleseat is always mocked by some as a Mellencamp knock off of Mellencamp (being too close to some other songs in terms of lyrics and chords, arrangement) -- but hell, what band doesnt do that?
Beatles, Stones... all the way down to REM -- a lot of songs can sometimes be similar.
Its still stands alone well and has hooks.
Go Vols.
