As many including mods have noted, given the circumstances, it's almost unbelievable that Tennessee even stayed in this game. As you watch the 3rd and 4th, you're convinced they're going to tie the game up. All the momentum was on our side. Even with all the penalties, the players out. This team is significantly improved from last year and most would argue that this team is significantly less talented than last year’s (QB room excepted). I think if this game happens midway through the season, they find a way to win. It feels as though you have to roll with Hooker. You wish 7 could hit that deep ball because as others have noted, he definitely runs the offence more efficiently and faster than 5 does. 5 showed some resilience and given he has two years of eligibility, he may have just won the job. Only time will tell how this team holds up in SEC play but I see a couple things already. We will have a top tier SEC special teams squad. I'd put us up against anyone. That chili is hot. The second thing I know is our defense has an identity which we could never say during Pruitt's era. Theo Jackson might just carve himself out a spot on some draft boards. If he has another year because of COVID, we need to start lobbying for him to stay another. That leadership will go a long ways in competing in those big time ball games. I'm excited to watch the team put up 70 points this weekend. Then we go to the swamp. Who knows what could happen. I would never place a bet on Tennessee for that game, but this wouldn't be football if you didn't have games like almost beating Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma in '14, upsetting Georgia in '15 and whoopin Auburn in '18 on the plains.
