I've lived in Knoxville my entire my life, so I might have a little bias with the following, but I don't think I'm far off. With baseball season right around the corner I thought I'd throw this out there. I've been a part of baseball in Knoxville for the better part of most of my life. Played a little bit in college. And I think I would be hard pressed to pick another city in America (per capita) that has more baseball talent than the Knoxville area does. Maybe Atlanta? Dallas, Houston, Miami... maybe? But say you put a stake right in downtown Knoxville, and gave us a 35 mile radius around the city to choose baseball talent from. From North to South and East to West. Farragut is constantly ranked in the top 20 in America in baseball. Have been the past 10 or so years, but now there's been 3 teams from their same DISTRICT win the state baseball tournament the past few years (Bearden and Hardin Valley). Notice the state baseball tournament usually always comeback to Knoxville every year. It's no coincidence. So no matter how fast Nashville grows I don't think they will be able to keep up with the quality of the talent we have in the area. Thoughts from the board? Knoxville baseball is top heavy with talent. Even our so called middle tiered teams are typically way above average compared to the rest of the state. SEC Baseballl is >>> SEC Football in terms of top to bottom talent in the conference. It's flat out nasty in the SEC nowadays.
