Obviously, Jon Gruden and Chip Kelly would be the game changers for UT and would re-energize UT football, at minimum, for name value alone... and I'd put Gary Patterson right up there with them.
Justin Fuentes may or may not listen and he'd be in second tier, along with Mike Gundy, who most likely won't leave Ok St.
Then you have hot up-and-comer Scott Frost, who is often talked about going back home to be Nebraska coach.
You also have some coaches who probably won't get opportunity due to the "wont be a fit" argument, like Bobby Petrino, Dana Holgorsen, Mike Leach and Kyle Whittingham.

So, in my opinion (unless we hit on one from above), these four guys may be next possible candidates... who would you take? Who's the least riskiest? Haven't included Dan Mullen, as we all know about him at Miss State... maybe he'd be better than these four?

CHAD MORRIS, SMU (3 years, 11-19 record) Age 49 $3,000,000/year
-Tremendous Texas state high school coach from mid-90s to 2009. After one season as Tulsa OC, he became Clemson OC, from 2011-2014. Took over SMU program and has improved the team from 2-10 in his first year to 5-7 in second year. Currently sits at 4-2 in 2017.
-Recruiting is strictly Texas, as SMU was only school in FBS with all Texas recruits last two years.
-Current staff with SEC ties: Buddy Wyatt, former Alabama DL coach (2003-2006).

MIKE BOBO, COLORADO STATE (3 years, 19-14 record) Age 43 $1,600,000/year
-Former Georgia QB (1993-1997) and Georgia OC/QB coach (2001-2014). Known for his QB development, including Matt Stafford. Took over Colorado State program and has been fairly consistent with 7-6 records his first two years, and currently sitting at 5-2 and showing improvement in year three.
-Colorado State is getting a new stadium next year, with high expectations for Bobo’s fourth year at the helm, should he stay.
-Recruiting has not been good, but it is difficult place to recruit to. Recruits have been from all over U.S. due to his mix of west/midwest/southeast coaches.
-Current staff with SEC ties: Terry Fair, current CB coach and former Vol player/assistant coach; Joe Cox, current TE coach and former Georgia QB; Ricky Logo, current DL coach and former coach for Vanderbilt, has also coached Demarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora; Will Friend, current OL coach and former Alabama OG and Georgia OL coach; Jamie Bryant, current ST and S coach and former Vanderbilt DC and secondary coach (2002-2010); Ronnie Letson, current QB coach and former Ole Miss QB and Georgia director of player personnel.

DAVE DOEREN, NC STATE (7 years, 54-31 record) Age 45 $2,500,000/year
-Played TE at Drake University and began his FBS coaching experience at Kansas (2002-2005), mostly as LB coach. Moved onto Wisconsin as co-DC and then DC from 2006-2010. Accepted head coach position at Northern Illinois and led them to 11-3 and 12-1 seasons, including BCS bowl in 2012 (Orange Bowl). Accepted head coach position at NC State (before the bowl game) and after 3-9 first season, produced over .500 seasons from 2014-2016 (8-5, 7-6, 7-6) and is now sitting at 6-1 in his fifth season with all his recruits.
-Recruiting at NC State has been between #30 to #55 ranked in his tenure.
-Current staff with SEC ties: George Barlow, current DB coach and former Vandy DB coach (discussed as UT DB coach replacement last year); Eliah Drinkwitz, current OC/QB coach and former assistant coach at Auburn (including BCS champ season); Des Kitchings, current RB coach and recruiting coordinator and former Vanderbilt RB coach and OC for one season.

JEFF BROHM, PURDUE (4 years, 33-13 record) Age 46 $3,500,000/year
-Former Louisville QB and NFL QB for various franchises from 1994-2000. Louisville QB coach from 2003-2008. Bounced around as QB coach from 2009-2013, until promoted to Western Kentucky head coach in 2014, taking over for the departing Bobby Petrino. After an 8-5 first year, he led team to 12-2 and 10-3 in next two seasons and took the Purdue HC job. Currently sitting at 3-3, with all three losses being to top 25 teams whom Purdue played tough against; Purdue was 3-9 last season.
-Recruiting for 2018 is currently #43 ranked, which is improvement over Purdue’s typical 60s-70s ranking last five years.
-Current staff with SEC ties: Reggie Johnson, current DL coach and former LB coach for Arkansas.

BROHM may be best head coach and appears to be good recruiter, BOBO has most ties to SEC (including possible staff) and DOEREN has been successful in tough ACC with his average recruiting but has taken a while to really show improvements.
