Let’s talk tequila

Looking to make some margaritas this weekend and want to use a better tequila and realized I know nothing of tequila other than Cuervo and Patron.

no plans to drink it straight, so I don’t need top shelf of top shelf, nor do I want it to taste like when I went to Cancun and blacked out day 1.

any suggestions for a reasonably priced, smooth tequila?
