Since Coach Z questioned the fan's knowledge of football, I have two cents for him. That's all it's worth, but here goes.
There's a reason why NBA basketball teams don't run 10 or 12 man rotations.
I played and coached basketball and also was a wide receiver in football. No, it wasn't at the D-1 level, but that doesn't mean there's no knowledge there. There's more constant running in basketball than as a wide receiver. Even in an up tempo offense. But a 10 man rotation in basketball SUCKS!!! I experimented with it often as a coach, and you just can't do it effectively. As a coach, 6 and 7 man rotations always outperformed. As a player, I always personally played better playing 35 to 40 minutes per game vs. 20 minutes basketball. Rhythm is a very real thing. It's more important than being 100% fresh all the time, and if you never push your players to be prepared to play large minutes then they'll never be able to.
Coach Z, you are WRONG. A 6 to 7 man rotation is fine. 9 is ridiculous!!
