While Zach Azzanni remains a very legitimate candidate for the Central Michigan head football coaching vacancy, those close to Azzanni indicated that a formal interview has not yet been scheduled and that Azzanni, who is deeply loyal to Butch Jones, would not agree to any interview until an in-person meeting with Jones. It has been reported by Sports Illustrated that CMU is likely to utilize the search firm DHR International to make its hire.

Clearly Azzanni is a very real candidate at his alma mater and so it seems imminent that some of these items merely are formalities. We've confirmed multiple times in the past 24 hours that Central Michigan athletics director Dave Heeke does have interest in Azzanni

Both coaches, Azzanni and Jones, have been logging serious miles this week on the recruiting trail. Azzanni has been in Florida today while Jones has been in Georgia. They're expected to be back on Rocky Top this evening as the Vols prepare for a fairly light recruiting weekend and will have some time to meet face-to-face.

Remember, Azzanni is a very attractive candidate with strong ties across the nation. We've noted the connections to both Jones and Urban Meyer, but it's also important to note Bret Bielema.

We're told by numerous people on campus that Jones and Tennessee could potentially begin meeting face-to-face with offensive coordinator candidates this weekend, and Mike DeBord, we are told from three sources, has a couple of NFL options on the table but would be available for an in-person meeting and could be in Knoxville today.
