. . .on the team 120 roster made me reflect for a moment on the recruiting of this staff. And with that I am not remotely concerned about this years recruiting class.
Of the players recognized as potentially national award level talent on the Vols current staff:
Jaylen Reeves-Maybin (low 4 star)
Josh Dobbs (3 star)
Jalen Hurd (5 star)
Alvin Kamara (4 star)
Derek Barnett (4 star)
Ethan Wolf (3 star)
Evan Berry (low 4 star)
Cam Sutton (3 star)
Coleman Thomas (3 star)
Jashon Robertson (3 star)
Dylan Weisman (3 star)
How many of those guys had signing day committ-able offers to any SEC school they wanted to go to? You can argue that Hurd and Kamara did but even that is questionable. Would LSU have made room for Hurd? Honestly probably not if he was even offered by them (honestly I don't remember). Kamara coming out of HS had Bama, Georgia and Tennessee as finalist so you can argue that he could have chosen any SEC school but the rest of the list wasn't even offered by much of the top tier in the SEC some not seriously recruited by their in state SEC power.
I just found this interesting in thinking about the staff's ability to identify and evaluate.
