I am not buying O'Connell's NFL ties are or should be a deal breaker or even a big impediment. I can't believe that contractially we can't protect Tennessee well enough over a 1-2 year period. I can't imagine we can't tie him completely up for one year and potentially have a pretty good buy out in the second year.
What concerns me is that if Scott is the driving factor his ties with Conales seal that deal. But from my perspective one year with O'Connell has a higher ceiling than several years with Conales. Honestly IMO even if O'Connell bolted in the next 60 days Conales might still be available and certainly a lot of his caliber coach would be. The down side is not in O'Connell bolting its in not giving him a try.
