Let's vote on this and explain ourselves if you care to.
I personally like it. Blackburn never commanded much from me due to limited experience, the fact he's in the UT system and associated politics behind that and what tid bits of information I was told from inside the AD.
Blackburn's willingness to take interviews and cutely flirt with full blown saying he wanted the job was very unprofessional. I don't think this was mentioned but he was scheduled to have an interview with 1045 in the middle of last week and pulled the plug right before the segment. A sudden and abrupt about face. He stated that he was no longer going to do interviews.
While unorganized and not well thought out, I do not think the search was a "cluster." The real mistake with this was Hitman Hart underestimating the fanbases reaction to his FUTURE retirement and the fan demanded necessity to hire someone immediately. I also believe the angst was media and message board generated. If you speak to fans who don't care too much for the media nor places like this they were never too worked up. The media fueled the fire because they never knew what was going on.
People have talked about how he's hard to work with. Mike Hamilton is and continues to be a salt of the earth guy but he attempted and strived to always keep everyone happy. It didn't work out well unfortunately. People really, really, really underestimate the difficulty of boosters and keeping them happy. You need their funding and they need a hand on the wheel to an extent, but it has to be commanded by the AD ultimately.
I also want to add that I am on record as saying Jimmy Hyams has very good access to the AD and was ROASTED when he stated it could be March before a hire was made. Dude was a day off.
