I've been saying all along that Connor Mitch is going to end up as the QB,, and that is probably true, but in their scrimmage Saturday all the QB's looked pretty bade. Mitch really looked sorry, but part of that was the receivers too.

A few years ago SOS saw what a mobile QB could do to his defense, and then with Connor Shaw he saw how one can bail out a team too. So his perspective has changed a lot in the past several years. That is why he is saying that freshman Lorenzo Nunez, a 4**** freshman from Kennesaw, Georgia will definitely see the field because of his running ability.

Throughout fall camp they have been experimenting with 4 quarterbacks but are now having to reduce that to get in more reps to those who have emerged. Problem is, there is not much separation. It is going to be interesting when USEjr. opens with UNC without a QB who has any experience at all.

The talk around Columbia is that if Connor Mitch can come on they will be fine on offense. That IF is big as an elephant in a room. But what may be just as large of a problem might be the receivers. They have hopes at tight end but have pretty good shoes to fill there. And the WR's are pretty much off the wall. Of 10 wide receivers, only Pharoh Cooper (72 catches) and Shamier Jeffrey ( a senior with 8 career catches) are the only ones to EVER catch a ball in college. Yep, only 2 have caught a pass. Five of those ten are frosh, and it does not look promising when you have juniors and seniors who have never caught a ball. Cooper is fantastic but if he goes down, who replaces him? Looks like freshman Deebo Samuel is the pick right now.

There are other questions too, and we will have to see if the defense can find leadership and overcome three major letdowns last year to blow major leads in the 4th quarter. Add in a really tough schedule, lack of depth, and the chickens have problems.

I think if our defense is anywhere close to what we think it will be, they are going to have a hard time moving the ball. I am loving it here in Columbia.
