OT: Cleaning a hat?

my favorite bright orange titleist golf hat is getting a little gamey mainly on the bill from taking it on and off I guess. Any cleaning suggestions ? Does the dishwasher really work ? Would some cleaning solution and a wet rag be the way to go?
