TRIANGLE
[Film stats: Earned $1.3M domestically. Got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and 66% on Flixster.]
Hello, all!
As you can see from this film’s domestic earnings, hardly anyone saw this film, and that’s a crime. It is such a fantastic little horror/thriller. Just like THE BABADOOK, this one made my list of recommended horror films back in the bygone days of interthingy yore, and for very good reason.
Just as I was loathe then to speak at any length about the film with any specificity, so, too, am I now disinclined to say an awful lot about it. It’s such a good film that it would be almost criminal to spoil any part of its surprisingly sophisticated script. The structure of the film is such that even the film’s tag line gives something away, let alone the poster for the film. Given how easy it is to give something away and detract from the experience of letting the story unfold whilst watching the movie, I’m glad that the folks at the IMDB managed not to be spoileriffic with their synopsis.
So, according to that site, the film’s plot is as follows: “Yacht passengers encounter mysterious weather conditions that force them to jump onto another ship, only to have the odd havoc increase.”
Thankfully, that doesn’t give away too much, and it may be seen as a copout to refrain from writing much more than this, but I’ve tended to produce somewhat yammering, bloviating write-ups in this “series” thus far, so it’s just as well that I let less be more in this case.
To be consistent, however, I’ve embedded a link to the film’s trailer below; but, I can’t suggest strongly enough that, if you’re keen to watch the film, you DO NOT WATCH this trailer. Likewise, don’t look it up on the IMDB or anywhere else. With that having been said, here’s the trailer that you absolutely shouldn’t watch:
Maybe it takes a little bit of trust to invest about an hour and a half of your time in a movie about which you know nothing, but the sight unseen approach really is the best approach for this one. If you have seen it, you know why I’m being so guarded with any details. If you haven’t seen it, just watch it. Trust me, it’s a great film. Go. Watch. Now.
Enjoy!
