I am reading The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell. It mentions that the company that makes Subarus today was specifically targeted for bombing during the war. It doesn’t mention what they produced during the war. Was it fighter planes or something else?

By the way, I highly recommend the book as it tells a story that hasn’t been examined very much - the firebombing of Japan using napalm under the command of General Curtis LeMay. While the two atomic bombs have been extensively written about, the firebombing campaign torched well over 50 cities over a 5 month period. One city was more than 90% destroyed. Even after the atomic bombs were dropped, the firebombing continued until Japan ultimately surrendered.
