OT: what has happened to customer service nowadays?

What a pile of crap it has become. Back in the day, you could call a number and reach a live person. Now, you spend several minutes listening to automated choices only to find out none are what you need. The cherry on top is an option to “text” with a customer service rep. They only tell you they don’t understand what you’re saying and give you the same toll free number that leads to the same useless recording.

Companies are just too dang reliant on computers to save a dollar nowadays.
